Prevention Through Awareness
Our mission is to prevent suicide through education, training and community-wide awareness
Community Awareness Programs
The Suicide Prevention Center organizes several events to raise awareness of suicide prevention and to eradicate the silence that often surrounds suicide.
Our Race to Save Lives – Walk for Hope event raises awareness and much needed financial support for suicide prevention programs. This annual event occurs in October. In 2025, we have set the date for Saturday, Oct. 18, at Howard Park in South Bend. Click here for details
Survivor Support Services
The Suicide Prevention Center provides several programs for those who have had a loved one die by suicide and those affected by a suicide attempt. Grieving takes time and we are here to help. You are not alone.
After Suicide Support Group provides a safe place to connect and share with others who are coping with the sudden loss of a loved one who died by suicide. The group usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month but check with the facilitator by calling 574-314.5426 or emailing klaudeman@uhs-in.org to confirm the meeting date and time.
